"Great detail. The course goes into great detail regarding the anatomy and physiology of how a heart functions. It Also, look at signs and symptoms caused by medication, pathological or genetic changes. Biokineticists can really use this information to better treat or refer the patient or athlete. We don't have the job description of diagnosing, BUT if we can read and interpret ecg strips to better understand the healthy heart vs. unhealthy heart to this degree of detail, we have the knowledge to understand and differentiate between normal and abnormal hearts, the severity of the abnormality, and if it's ok to continue with testing. This means we can intervene much earlier in testing and possibly get the patient the right help much sooner."
